~ How To Judge ~
Below are the guidelines which judges must follow to judge one of our Monthly Shows. If you would like to judge one of them, please use the contact form at the end of this page to contact us. If you have any questions regarding judging or entering a MASBHR show, please do not hesitate to ask, just use the form on the Contact Us page.
Remember that you have to judge at least one show each year to be eligible to show your horses in the monthly shows!

Gender Halter Classes
To judge a Gender halter class, the following points must be taken into account:
- What breed is the horse you're judging?
- Does the horse have the correct conformation for its breed standards?
- What gender is the horse?
- Does it have the correct conformation for that gender? E.g. mares and geldings are less muscled than stallions.
- How does the overall photo look? E.g. is there enough light? Are the surroundings in scale with the model?
When you have looked at all these points, make your decision which photo is the best and place it 1st. Placings are made from 1st to 10th - if you like you may also choose a HM (honorable mention).
Colour Halter Classes
To judge a Colour halter class, the following points must be taken into accoung:
- What breed is the horse you're judging?
- What is the colour of that horse?
- Is the colour suitable for the listed breed?
- How does the overall photo look?
- What is the best/nicest example of the colour you are judging?
When you have looked at all these points, make your decision which photo is the best and place it 1st.
Headstudy Classes
To judge a Headstudy class, the following points must be taken into account:
- What breed is the horse you're judging?
- Is the conformation of that horse suitable for the breed listed?
- What is the best example of a head for that breed?
- How does the overall photo look?
- Important: headstudy photos must not show the shoulders, withers, back or legs of the horse! Only the head and neck are allowed.
When you have looked at all these points, make your decision which photo is the best and place it 1st.
Performance Classes
To judge a Performance class, the following points must be taken into account:
- What discipline are you judging?
- Is the tack of the horse suitable for that discipline?
- Is the pose of the horse suitable for that discipline?
- How does the overall photo look?
- Important: photos in the Showmanship class must include a handler.
- Has the entrant specified what the horse is doing?
When you have looked at all these points, make your decision which photo is the best and place it 1st.
Other General Information
- Opening dates: 1st of the month until the 20th of the month.
- Closing/Judging dates: 20th of the month untill the end of that month.
- Only 5 photos per class per stable
- All your ASBs and NSHs may enter the shows, as long as you have at least 1 horse registered with MASBHR
- Shows are held in a Photobucked account - please use the form on the Contact Us page to request the username and password to the account.
- Every stable uploads its own pictures
- Do not edit, delete or move pictures that are not your own
- Size limits of photos are 500 pixels on the longest side
- Photos remain in the MASBHR albums as long as you are a member
- Every member must judge at least one show every 6 months.
